Since we are talking guns and all...thought I'd ask how to carry concealed.

I'm fat. Some of ya'll know that and I don't really care. I don't plan to lose weight either. I am 5'-6" and 290 lbs. Shocked Don't give me any lectures cuz I already know. I could teach classes on health, fitness, and weight loss.

Back to the subject. I am apple shaped. Fat apple that is. Wink I have the typical gut hanging over the belt. The holster that came with my XD has the pistol sticking out from the side and the pistol can be easily seen with a coat on.

I would think It would fit just right in the small of my back as it would not stick out there but it would be uncomfortable for sitting any where.

Any recommendations? What is the best option for fat apples?

Do you even read my posts? Did you check out www.kholster.com?

Also you could consider a shoulder holster for the time of the year when jackets are the norm. I would not do small of the back personally. If you ever are in a dangerous situation and someone is behind you- you'll never know when you shirt is hung up on it and you could be made. Also, consider that when drawing you likely sweep everyone to one side of you as you move the firearm to the front for aiming.

I'm apple fat, too, and I carry often. The most comfortable (and possibly ugliest) holster I'm aware of is made by Crossbreed Holsters.

Made in America, too.

www.crossbreedholsters.com

For what it's worth, I'm 5'8" @ 260# (down from 300+). It was a lot easier to conceal a weapon when I was bigger, but it's a lot more comfortable as I get smaller. I'm not sure both can exist together perfectly - seems like you have to give-up a little of one to gain another.

That's the same principle as Kholster... I agree- very comfortable.

I'd like to compare the two online, but our web filter at work isn't impressed with the second amendment.

Edit: I got through... That Kholster is a cool looking rig. Seems like it would do a good job protecting one from the dunlop discomfort the grip causes.

Basically the difference is price. Kholster, I believe, sells for about $50. Does Crossbreed put some sort of material on the back of their leather pad? That might be the only difference I can see...

S&W 490 with packmayr grips in a Kramer holster was my OD rig.
It's quicker and more cost effective just to sit on 'em though Laughing

I was gonna check out the sight tonight at home.

I carry almost daily. I too am a big guy. Generally carry in an outside the waistband holster from UBG. I just wear a big shirt over it and my Bersa Thunder 380 disappears. I sometimes pocket carry, but that's not possible with many handguns.

Man I certainly did miss my Bersa today. It disappeared. I could not find it, and could not remember seeing it for a couple days. Tore my house and car apart looking for it, and could not find it. Eventually called the cops to report it missing/stolen. Filled out the report, and within a half-hour after the officer leaving, I had found it. Wow! You talk about scary, that certainly was! I'm glad that prayer was answered!
